Not every project makes it to our page right away, but this one was too good not to share!

Earlier this season, our team completed this project for a young family who wanted to complete the appearance and functionality of their newly built home. After meeting with our landscape design team to discuss their vision, we developed a custom plan that included the installation of underground PVC downspout drainage to properly manage stormwater, along with carefully selected trees and shrubs to enhance the home's curb appeal.

A small landscape renovation completed this week by our hardworking Landscape Construction Division is proof that even modest projects can make a dramatic difference.

The project began with an on-site consultation between our landscape design team and the homeowner to discuss their vision, preferences, and long-term goals. Together, we developed a design that emphasized low maintenance while incorporating dwarf varieties of trees and shrubs to provide year-round beauty without overwhelming the space.

Once the design was approved, our construction team went to work by removing the existing landscape, enriching the planting beds with composted mushroom soil, installing carefully hand-selected plant material, rerouting the drip irrigation system, applying a granular pre-emergent herbicide to help reduce future w**d growth, and finishing the project with a fresh layer of premium hardwood mulch.

Did you know that Shortcutz was responsible for installing the original landscaping, hardscaping, and irrigation at The Rail Haus B**r Garden? Not only do we continue to maintain the property today, but we were also recently selected to install the new artificial turf in the main lawn area.

The owner had been considering making the switch to artificial turf for quite some time and finally decided this spring was the perfect opportunity. Our crew removed the existing Zoysia lawn, meticulously prepared the site, and completed the installation just in time for Dover Days Weekend.

Since then, the turf has performed exceptionally well, standing up to the heavy foot traffic that The Rail Haus experiences throughout the busy spring and summer seasons while maintaining a lush, vibrant appearance.

The next time you're in downtown Dover, stop by The Rail Haus B**r Garden for a cold beverage and take a look at the beautiful green lawn beneath the tent. While you're there, be sure to check out the colorful seasonal flower displays—also installed by the Shortcutz team—which add the perfect finishing touch to one of Dover's premier outdoor gathering spots.

These photos are from a project we completed earlier this year that never made it to our page.

This beautiful waterfront home overlooking Rehoboth Bay had been plagued by serious drainage and standing water issues that had progressively worsened over the past several years. Working alongside Scaled Engineering, we designed and executed a comprehensive drainage solution to permanently address the problem.

Shortcutz served as the project manager for the entire installation, coordinating all aspects of the project. The scope of work included raising an exterior door, installing composite foundation trim, extensive excavation, drainage installation, irrigation modifications, landscaping, and new sod installation.

Our crews installed an underground drainage system by tying all gutter downspouts into solid piping, constructed a gravel trench drain, built a drainage swale, regraded portions of the property, reconfigured the irrigation system, and completely transformed the landscape with new plantings and fresh sod.

Last week, we returned for our four-month follow-up inspection and are pleased to report that the drainage issues have been successfully resolved. Even more importantly, the new lawn has established beautifully and the property looks outstanding.

Our team includes an NDS Certified Drainage Professional and an Accredited Landscape Designer, giving us the expertise to tackle even the most challenging drainage and landscape projects with confidence.
