I can even explain how impressed I am with the success of this garden! Every year I’m blown away by how big, healthy and vibrant the plants are, considering this used to be a clay slab with swampy, struggling sod.

The homeowners (stewards of this garden) are very hands-on, and have cultivated a deep relationship with the land, telling stories of visiting animals, plant habits and reveling in the beauty (and function) nature provides. It’s really lovely to see the excitement in their eyes, as they point around the garden with dirt under their nails 💅🏻❤️.

Go nature, go!

How can a garden look so cool in 97• weather?!
Answer: Right plant, right place. Every garden design should not only take sunlight into consideration, but also soil type, plant sociability and shape as well. In my opinion, this trifecta (Joe Pye W**d, Karl Forester grass and Veronicastrum) is making it work!

Even in the scorching heat & draught, this new install is thriving. The agastache and mountain mint were a cacophony of happy bees, as we pruned and deadheaded the flowers.

It’s not a small gesture to nurture life. It’s easy to disregard the tiny moments and gestures of love and joy and care we pass around during the day, but they absolutely matter and this world absolutely needs them.
