Did you know that not all water filters are designed to remove PFAS or can?

PFAS, often called “forever chemicals,” have been found in high levels in Camas Well 13 (recently reopened) and are present in many drinking water supplies in our area. They are known for being extremely persistent and having a variety of health impacts 🚫 Filtration systems that successfully tackle this issue include reverse osmosis, activated carbon, or ion exchange. ✅

The City of Camas is working on an ion exchange filtration system to address the high levels of PFAS in our water system, however this project is estimated to be completed next year.

In the meantime, residents are encouraged by the city to install additional filtration systems especially for drinking/cooking water. The most common point of use filters are Reverse Osmosis or Carbon Block. Carbon filters are more affordable and don't waste water which make them a great option for many homes!
