Meet Ukko and Kodiak, two search and rescue heroes. Their owner volunteers tirelessly to help others. We donated this fence to give these canine heroes a secure space for some R&R before their next mission. Thanks for your service, Ukko and Kodiak. You make the world a better place.

A half century ago Don Blackett was Larry’s High-school wrestling coach.

This week we had the tremendous pleasure of building him and his wife Sheri a new fence. Don taught math, chemistry and physics at Washougal High for over 30years and still lives just a few blocks from the school.

We had a great time going through yearbooks and hearing stories about the good old days. Can you spot Larry & Don in this 1974 yearbook photo? (First person gets a Hero Fence Yeti Mug)

In the spirit of Veterans Day, we want to share a deeply meaningful experience. We had the honor of donating a fence to Wendy Campbell, a mother of a fallen hero who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. She continues to give back by fostering dogs for military personnel - much of it at her own expense. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for Wendy, Andrew, and all veterans who've served. Today, we salute you, remember you, and thank you from the depths of our souls. 🙏💙

Great story about a local Hero :)

Local author Gretchen McLellan has moved a lot. Growing up with a military father, her family was constantly relocating, so it is no surprise that themes of separation and searching for connections are woven into many of her five published books.

Her latest book, When Your Daddy’s a Soldier, has been years in the making. “As a child, I never read books about families like mine and have always wanted to create a story that recognized the feelings of military kids. I wanted them to feel seen and heard in their unique experience of separation from a deployed parent.”
