"Worms Eat My Garbage" by Mary Appelhof and Joanne Olszewski is a fun, easy read about how worms consume our garbage! Our public library offers the book on their digital book program for free. Check with your public library about the availability of the digital version.
I have had the opportunity to speak to Kindergarten classes about the wonders of the humble worm. Kindergartners were amazed (as I am also) about how much food we throw in the garbage, that worms would actually eat and produce fabulous fertilizer for our garden and flowers! I hope you can find the book and enjoy the read as much as I have!
Someone reached out yesterday, throughly amazed at how much garbage one household produces that can be recycled for worm food to reduce our carbon foot print!
I hope you have a great week and consider recycling your kitchen waste and make a worm happy!

Often during warm months, keeping the worm bed moist is a challenge. The best way to help retain moisture is soaking a 100% tee shirt, wringing the shirt out well and place directly on top of the bedding. Cover the shirt with bubble wrap. Worms must have moist bedding since they breathe through their skin. Below is a picture of the bubble wrap we use. It is very durable and last a lot longer than the dollar store brand. We purchase this at Lowe's. Your worms will appreciate the moisture.

The worms will do better with their bedding under a porch or in a controlled temperature building. We are in Louisiana and the heat this summer has been awful!
