Can you still paint the outside of your house in October? In West Michigan, it depends on the temperature, not the date.

Most exterior paint labels list a minimum application temperature, and the paint needs to stay dry long enough to cure. Cold nights and morning dew shrink that window fast this time of year.

If the forecast won't cooperate, interior walls, cabinets and trim make a great fall project.

Striping season in West Michigan is closing fast, and it comes down to temperature. 🅿️

Line paint needs dry pavement and daytime temps in the right range to cure hard before anyone drives on it. Once we get steady cold and the first frosts, that window shuts, and a lot striped too late never sets up the way it should. The lots we get done in the next few weeks will still look sharp next spring. The ones that wait until it's freezing usually don't.

If your parking lot lines, ADA stalls, or fire lanes are faded, now's the time to lock it in. Most lots are a single visit with minimal disruption to your business.

Attention to detail is the whole job, honestly. It's the crisp caulk line where the trim meets the wall, the door sprayed smooth instead of brushed, the drop cloths down and the site swept before we leave. On new construction, custom homes, cabinet refinishing in our spray shop, or an exterior repaint, that's the standard we hold on every project.

On a custom home, the trim and doors are where the eye lands, and they're the first place a sloppy finish shows. 🚪

After 25+ years finishing new construction across West Michigan, here's why we spray trim and doors in our shop instead of brushing them on site: a sprayed, properly cured finish lays down glass-smooth, no brush marks, no roller stipple, and it hardens enough to take the daily bumps a real home hands out. Doors, casing, base, and built-ins all sprayed to a factory-crisp finish, then set once the other trades have cleared out.

Get the millwork right and the whole home reads finished, not just painted.
