Deposit Lawncare Rivalry Escalates Into Full-Blown Turf War Between Shaver Lawncare and Gateway Lawncare
DEPOSIT, NY — What began as a routine spring mowing season has erupted into what residents are now calling “an all-out suburban turf war” between Shaver Lawncare (Bobby and Ashlee) and Gateway Lawncare (Landon and Lucas), whose controversial marketing strategy has drawn both customers—and concern.
Shaver Lawncare, known for their “no nonsense, clean lines” approach, has long been considered a staple in the community. But tensions escalated this spring after Gateway Lawncare entered the scene wearing matching banana hammocks and promoting their services with the slogan:
“We make your lawn lush… while making the ladies blush.”
Facebook Becomes the Primary Battlefield
The rivalry has largely unfolded online, where both companies have taken to Facebook in a series of increasingly aggressive and oddly personal posts.
One Shaver Lawncare post featured a pristine striped lawn with the caption:
“Some of us focus on quality… not costumes.”
Gateway Lawncare responded within minutes with a shirtless video of Landon and Lucas edging a driveway while maintaining direct eye contact with the camera.
“If you’re not uncomfortable, are we even doing our job?”
At least four comment sections have since been shut down due to what officials described as “escalating levels of thirst and hostility.”
Tensions Spill Into Public Spaces
The conflict has not remained online.
Witnesses report multiple heated encounters, including a tense standoff near a trailer of zero-turn mowers where Bobby allegedly muttered:
“Real professionals wear pants.”
In response, Lucas reportedly removed his shirt and asked, “Define professional.”
The new overzealous State Troopers have declined to comment but confirmed they are “monitoring the situation and trying not to make eye contact.”
Merchandising War Intensifies
Both companies have launched competing apparel lines in an attempt to dominate the narrative.
Shaver Lawncare’s gear includes:
• “Grass Daddy”
• “Lawn Momma”
• “We Go Low… Then We Edge”
• “Shaver Lawncare”
Meanwhile, Gateway Lawncare has doubled down with:
• “Make Lawns Lush. Make Ladies Blush.”

Residents report seeing Gateway crews mowing in full uniform, which officials confirmed as “technically legal but emotionally confusing.”
Escalation Reaches New Levels
Several incidents have raised alarms across the community:
• A freshly cut Shaver lawn was reportedly re-striped overnight “with unnecessary flair”
• A Gateway property featured mowing lines forming what investigators believe to be “abs”
• One homeowner reported both companies showing up at the same time and refusing to leave
“I just wanted my lawn cut,” said the homeowner. “Now I feel like I’m hosting an event I didn’t plan.”
Community Caught in the Crossfire
Residents say choosing a provider has become increasingly stressful.
“You can’t just hire someone anymore,” said one resident. “You’re making a statement.”
Some homeowners have begun alternating services weekly, while others are attempting to mow their own lawns “just to stay neutral.”
One man was seen cutting his grass at 9pm “to avoid being seen.”
What’s Next
Village officials are exploring mediation options, though early discussions broke down after both parties disagreed on what constitutes “appropriate attire for edging.”
In the meantime, residents are advised to:
• Avoid complimenting one company within earshot of the other
• Keep lawns at a “non-threatening height”
• Refrain from engaging with unsolicited demonstrations
At press time, a new set of mowing lines appeared across multiple properties, spelling out:
“Choose wisely.”

What a year 2025 has been! Very busy with lots of fun projects and immaculate, lush lawns, and some ladies that would blush along the way!

Just about everything is an absolute ice skating rink after the freezing rain! Cinders are almost a must have to get in and out of driveways safely with such thick layers of ice. Get ahold of us to make those slick driveways safer with some cinders!
