🔨It was hammer time at yesterday’s Experience the Trades Expo! 🔨 Our Berghammer team members helped students try their hand at a key carpentry skill - driving nails – and showing them proper technique and safety.

Thanks to the WCBA for bringing students and the trades together. We had a blast meeting with all the students and giving them an hands-on experience of the trades.

A little running, kayaking and biking made for a great Friday in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley! Berghammer team members joined The Sigma Group’s annual Milwaukee Urban Eco-Athlon on September 18. The event brought participants together for a 2-mile run or walk, a 4-mile kayak loop and a 6-mile bike ride, all in support of the Wisconsin Homeless Veterans Initiative.

Thanks to Sigma for organizing a fun day for a meaningful cause. We enjoyed seeing everyone out on the course, including Sigma President Ken K.!

PROJECT PROGRESS

Our Special Projects team members took a tour of the ongoing work at St. Stanislaus Church on Milwaukee’s south side. The St. Stan's parish addition and renovation include three stories and the basement for a new Parish Center. Classrooms, meeting rooms, a kitchen, additional storage, and a rooftop terrace are all in the works for this historic church community. Safety and disruption avoidance are top priorities on this tight, urban site so that day-to-day operations can continue.

What a great night at She Builds: She Levels Up! Last week, more than 180 women attended from all across the construction industry. We enjoyed shopping the women-owned vendors, networking, celebrating women in construction, and learning the basics of Texas Hold ‘Em – which was a master class in strategy and confidence. ♠️Thank you to everyone who volunteered and participated. Cheers to She Builds - Wisconsin Chapter! ♠️

September 14-18 is Construction Su***de Prevention Week, a time for those of us in the construction industry to raise awareness about mental health and su***de prevention. Looking out for each other includes our mental well-being as well as our physical safety.

This week, we’re sharing su***de prevention toolbox talks with Berghammer team members. By making space for honest conversations about mental health, we hope to help break the stigma around asking for help. Our goal is to share ways to recognize when someone is struggling, how to start a conversation, and where to turn for help. We encourage everyone to check in with their co-workers, listen, and reach out. You are not alone.

P.S. Anyone can call or text the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline at 988 for free, confidential support, including someone concerned about another person.

We are so excited to welcome Jason Piurkowski to our team as Senior Project Manager!

He brings experience across a variety of market sectors, including education, multifamily, and industrial, as well as leadership, mentoring, and project management skills. He brings diverse market knowledge, along with a strong understanding of both field operations and project management, to Berghammer.

Construction has been part of Jason’s life from an early age. He began working as a carpenter’s helper at just 14 years old, then as a yard laborer for marine construction, and poured concrete while on summer breaks from St. Norbert College. After college, Jason began his career in property management and continued to grow in the construction industry.

Jason, along with his wife Amy, live in Brookfield with their two daughters and a sweet dog named Benny, who Jason admits is the “real man of the house.” Outside of work, Jason stays active by working out, playing pickleball, and playing recreational softball in Brookfield.

Please join us in welcoming Jason to Berghammer!
