✅ HOW IT WORKS – St. Stanislaus Parish, Historic Renovation and Addition

Berghammer is excited to be part of the transformation of the future Fatima Center for St. Stanislaus Parish. This project is a renovation and addition to a 140-year-old cream city brick building anchoring the east end of historic Mitchell Street, across from St. Stanislaus Church in Milwaukee. When complete, the project will feature a new three-story addition and rooftop terrace with exposed cream city brick, coffered ceilings and extensive woodwork highlighting the interior of the restored building. The new space will accommodate meeting, assembly, and hospitality functions for St. Stan’s for generations to come.

Originally a neighborhood meat market, the structure was carefully gutted to its brick and timber frame and is now being restored under the purview of the Milwaukee Historic Preservation Commission. This type of construction work happens below grade, with tight clearances, and around aging foundations, all while respecting the original historical structure.

We’ve done deep excavation, foundation repairs, and hand-executed underpinning inside the existing basement, completed with less than 8 feet of overhead clearance. This job definitely requires creativity, craftsmanship, and coordination between our concrete, carpentry, and field teams.

Welcome to our summer intern, Sophia Weber!

Sophia is currently pursuing her degree in Construction Management at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), with an expected graduation in Spring 2028. Sophia brings a wealth of work experience to our team, and we are honored to be her first official internship in the construction industry. This summer, she is most excited to jump into the day-to-day project work, and watch how structures evolve from concept to completion.

A native of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Sophia is the oldest of four siblings. When she isn’t studying or on the job site, you can find her baking, painting, or playing soccer. She also loves spending time with her dog, Walter, and enjoying the best ice cream spots by the beach. 🐶 🏖️

We were honored to be part of a great night of celebrating design and community at the 29th Annual Mayor’s Design Awards! Two of our projects were recognized for contributing to the character of their neighborhoods and creating meaningful community spaces in the city of Milwaukee. Congratulations to both the project owners and to the teams involved!

PROJECT PROGRESS
A quiet jobsite over the holiday weekend offered the perfect opportunity to capture an aerial view of Pritchard Park Place in Racine. After roughly six months of construction, the 260+ unit apartment development is continuing to make steady progress.

SPRING VIEWS 🌱 🌷
We were in the neighborhood and captured a clip of the site work and gardens at St. Christopher Episcopal Church, River Hills. With another year passing since the project wrapped, and the great spring weather, the plantings are filling in nicely!

Safety Week job site lunches continue! This week, we visited our 266-unit multi-family project in Racine - Pritchard Park Apartments - for box lunches and a safety talk from Kyle Pearson. He reminded us to stay aware, avoid shortcuts, and speak up on the job. Safety for all individuals on or around a job site is our top priority and something everyone can contribute to.

It was great to see everyone getting together for lunch and putting safety first!

We were proud to again be part of the 2026 Building Advantage Career Fair at American Family Field. More than 1,300 students from 48 area high schools explored careers in the construction trades at this awesome event.

Berghammer team members connected with students and shared their experience with the opportunities within our field. Special thanks to Dan Montiho, Luke Wilson, and Werner Holentunder, LEED AP - BD+C, for representing Berghammer and creating an interactive experience. A highlight of the day was our hands-on carpentry station, where students could grab a hammer and test their skills driving nails into wood - always a crowd favorite!

Events like these are important for introducing students to the many paths available in the construction trades and apprenticeships.

2026 Construction Safety Week is here. This year’s national theme is All In Together: Recognize • Respond • Respect.

At Berghammer, Safety Week activities will focus on not taking shortcuts and encouraging everyone to speak up if they see something unsafe. This week helps us remember that safety is a shared responsibility on every jobsite.

Yesterday, our team gathered at the Seeds of Health High School 3rd Floor Remodel in Milwaukee for a box lunch and safety talk. Our Vice President of Field Operations, Kyle Pearson, spoke with the crew about staying vigilant, avoiding shortcuts, and speaking up when something doesn’t look right.

Safety is a critical part of our culture at Berghammer, and we are committed to it through everyday actions and accountability. We’re proud to see our teams showing up, engaging, and putting safety first.
