Even though Adam and Eve were sent away from Eden, they were still tasked with good stewardship over the Earth. Their sin didn’t remove their responsibilities, but the responsibilities would be made more difficult because of their separation from God.
Why? I think that God wanted people to continue caring for the Earth because He knew it would draw them closer to Him. As generations passed, people continued to farm, care for animals, and grow their families. This was and is a lifestyle that requires people to have faith that God will provide and care for His creation.
We can sow a seed, but we must trust that God will cause the seed to grow. We will feed and water our animals, but we must trust that God will keep them healthy and use them to balance our ecosystems. We can love and teach our children as best we can, but we must trust that God will transform their hearts to believe and follow in Him.
Walking this path is often difficult and always humbling… but it’s rich with life, joy, and the reward of walking closely with our Creator.
