🌧️❄️ SHASTA COUNTY WEATHER OUTLOOK — OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER 2026! ❄️🌧️
A potentially historic El Niño is developing, and Northern California residents should start preparing for the winter months ahead!
According to NOAA’s October 8 update, El Niño continues to strengthen, with an 83% chance of reaching historically strong levels during October through December.
Here’s what residents throughout Shasta County, including Burney, Fall River Mills, McArthur, and surrounding mountain communities, should be preparing for:
🍂 OCTOBER — THE SEASONAL TRANSITION
Temperatures begin dropping, overnight freezing becomes more common in higher elevations, and the possibility of fall rain and early mountain snowfall increases.
🌧️ NOVEMBER — WINTER WEATHER BEGINS
As we move deeper into the wet season, residents should be prepared for stronger storm systems, periods of heavy rainfall, gusty winds, falling leaves, and possible snow in higher-elevation communities.
❄️ DECEMBER — WINTER STORM SEASON
December brings increasing potential for significant winter weather, including mountain snow, heavy rainfall, freezing temperatures, and possible rain-on-snow events.
⚠️ WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HOMEOWNERS?
Now is the time to prepare your property before winter weather arrives!
✅ Clean gutters and downspouts.
✅ Remove leaves, pine needles, and debris from roofs.
✅ Inspect gutters for damage, leaks, and loose attachments.
✅ Install gutter guards where appropriate.
✅ Address drainage problems before heavy rainfall.
✅ Prepare roofs and drainage systems for snow and freezing temperatures.
Don’t wait until the first major storm to discover your gutters are clogged or your drainage system isn’t working!
