Fall rain is coming. Your drainfield feels it first.

Here is what helps. Keep gutters and runoff pointed away from your drainfield. Do not drive trucks or equipment over it. Watch for soggy spots that never dry out.

A drainfield that stays soaked cannot do its job. That is when backups start.

Here in the Hill Country, our rocky soil and sudden downpours make this matter even more.

Notice a soggy spot? Do not wait for it to become a backup.

Septic Truth Saturday: your septic system is not a trash can.

We get called out to systems that quit working. Half the time, the problem started with what went down the drain.

"Flushable" wipes are not actually flushable. Coffee grounds, grease, and harsh drain cleaners do not belong in your tank either.

A little care goes a long way. Your system will thank you with years of trouble-free service.

If yours is acting up, give Ricky a call at 512-577-4862. Honest assessments, no pressure.

🌳 THINK BEFORE YOU PLANT NEAR YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM

That little tree may look harmless today…but those roots have plans of their own.

As trees and large shrubs grow, their roots naturally search for water and nutrients. And guess what has plenty of both? Your septic system.

Roots planted too close can eventually work their way toward septic lines, tanks, and drain fields. If they find a weak joint, crack, or opening, they can grow inside the system and contribute to clogs, damaged pipes, poor drainage, and some very expensive repairs.

A few things to keep in mind:

• Keep trees and large shrubs a safe distance from your septic system and drain field.
• Avoid planting deep-rooted trees near septic lines.
• Don't assume the tank is the only thing you need to protect—the drain field and connecting lines matter too.
• Before landscaping, know exactly where your septic system is located.

And remember, different trees have different root systems. A cute little sapling can become a BIG problem years from now if it's planted in the wrong spot.

Your septic system is a major investment. A little planning above ground can save you a whole lot of trouble below it.

🚜 Not All Septic Systems Are Created Equal

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is, "A septic system is a septic system, right?"

Not exactly.

The type of septic system your property needs depends on several factors, including:

✔ Soil type
✔ Property size
✔ Topography
✔ Groundwater levels
✔ County regulations
✔ Home size and water usage

In Central Texas, some properties are a great fit for a conventional septic system, while others may require an aerobic system or a specialized design to meet local requirements.

Choosing the wrong system can lead to unnecessary costs, maintenance headaches, permit issues, and problems down the road.

That's why it's important to work with an experienced septic professional who understands Central Texas soil, TCEQ regulations, and how to match the right system to your property.

At Liberty Septic & Excavating, we don't believe in selling you the most expensive system. We believe in helping you install the right system for your land, your home, and your budget.

Since 2007, we've been helping homeowners throughout Burnet, Williamson, Travis, Llano, and Lampasas Counties navigate the septic process with honest advice and quality workmanship.

💧 What Is an Aerobic Septic System?

If you're building a home in Central Texas, you've probably heard the term "aerobic septic system" and wondered what it actually means.

Simply put, an aerobic system uses oxygen and beneficial bacteria to treat wastewater before it's dispersed. These systems are often required on properties where a conventional septic system isn't the best fit due to soil conditions, lot size, or local regulations.

Some benefits of aerobic systems include:

✅ Effective wastewater treatment
✅ Works well on many Central Texas properties
✅ Environmentally friendly when properly maintained
✅ Can be a great solution when conventional systems aren't an option

The key is making sure you install the right system for your property and maintain it properly over time.

At Liberty Septic & Excavating, we'll help you understand your options and recommend the system that makes the most sense for your land, budget, and long-term needs.

No unnecessary upsells. No shortcuts. Just honest guidance and quality work.
