News Release – Temporary Closures of Washington & 4th Street Intersection
The Engineering Division of Public Works, announced today, that The Washington Street Resurfacing Project will be migrating into the 4th Street intersection on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 just after the holiday.
Phase 1 - will be the closure of the west leg of the intersection, such that Washington Street will be closed between 4th and 5th Streets, while leaving access thru the remainder of the intersection. This closure will be established at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Phase 2 - will be a complete closure of the entire intersection to all thru traffic and thru pedestrians, beginning on approximately/between June 3, 2026 and June 10, 2026 upon further notice. No-Parking notices will be posted adjacent to the closed legs/sides of the intersection to afford room for traffic to do 3-point turns to exit the areas.
Pedestrian access to adjacent buildings/businesses at 400 Washington, and 317, 322-320 North 4th Street will be maintained.
The east City Hall entrance on the North 4th Street side will be the continuously available access throughout the intersection construction; access will have to be made from the north during the phase 2 full closure.
The 4th and Washington intersection is expected to remain closed through June.
