Built to Weather What Comes Next

We transformed an existing maintenance shop for the City of Mount Vernon Public Works into an enclosed, flood-resilient facility built to better support daily operations and community service.

The upgraded space helps protect City assets during high water events, gives staff better protection from the elements, and creates a more practical place for crews to do the work that keeps essential services moving.

By reducing flood-related impacts and improving long-term functionality, this project helps support the City teams who serve the Mount Vernon community every day.

Ag Innovation, Taking Shape

We’re making real progress at the WSU greenhouse, with the frame up, roof on, and siding now underway.

As this project takes shape, so does the impact it will have. Once complete, the facility will expand WSUs controlled-environment research capacity, supporting studies in blueberries, spinach, wheat varieties, and other crops that are central to the Skagit Valley’s agricultural identity.

This new space at the Washington State University Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center will support research and education that benefits local farmers, strengthens Skagit County agriculture, and creates lasting value for our community.

Building skills. Building careers. Building Beyond the Building.

Congratulations to our 2026 Construction Industry Training Council of WA Carpenter Apprentice Program graduates: Alan Garcia-Padilla, Cresencio Araiza-Galvan, David Dilley, and Isaac Ripley.

This achievement reflects years of hard work, hands on learning, commitment to safety, and dedication to the craft.

Celebrating these graduates is about more than graduation, it is about recognizing the skilled craft professionals who strengthen our teams, support our projects, and help build strong communities.

Building Beyond the Building starts with people.

Small Spaces Make a Big Difference

Our team completed renovations at the Skagit Transit Station in Mount Vernon, WA, transforming an existing breakroom into a new ADA-compliant restroom designed with bus drivers in mind.

The updated space includes new finishes, fixtures, lighting, and ventilation. Working within the existing building, we used practical, cost-saving solutions including a macerating toilet system to avoid extensive concrete cutting to connect to the existing sewer.

The result is a comfortable and functional purpose-built space for Skagit Transit drivers helping make their day a little easier as they keep our community moving.

Congratulations to Madalyn Heil on graduating from Leadership Skagit through Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County - EDASC and Skagit Valley College!

Madalyn and her team partnered with O.U.R. Journey to support trauma-impacted youth through community outreach, mentorship, and meaningful service projects that created lasting local impact.

Madalyn shared that the experience strengthened her appreciation for Skagit County, its people, and the importance of listening, learning, and stepping up to serve others.

We’re proud to see Madalyn bring that same leadership, teamwork, and commitment to growth to TRICO every day as a Project Engineer and Chair of our Safety Committee. Congratulations, Madalyn!
