💦 What Does a Custom Pool-Building Process Look Like?

Building a custom pool is exciting—but if you’ve never done it before, you may be wondering what actually happens between the first conversation and the first splash.

Here’s a simplified look at the process:

1️⃣ Consultation and Custom Design
We discuss your ideas, how your family will use the space, desired features, budget considerations, and your overall vision. A custom design allows you to see how the project can come together before construction begins.

2️⃣ Permits and Preparation
Once the design and contract are finalized, the required permits and inspections are coordinated. Utility locations, yard access, drainage, and other property considerations are also reviewed.

3️⃣ Excavation and Construction
The pool is laid out and excavated. Plumbing, equipment, steel reinforcement, and the gunite shell follow. This is when your pool truly begins taking shape!

4️⃣ Finishing Details
Tile, coping, electrical components, decking, water features, and the pool’s interior finish are completed. These details bring the design and personality of your pool to life.

5️⃣ Filling, Startup and Pool School
After the interior finish is complete, the pool is filled and the equipment is started. We then walk you through your system, basic operation, and how to care for your new pool.

☀️ TEXAS HEAT CHECK: Is Your Pool Keeping Up? 💦

Extreme summer heat doesn’t just make us uncomfortable—it can put extra stress on your pool, water chemistry, and equipment.

Here are a few things every pool owner should watch:

💧 Water level
Heat and evaporation can lower the water surprisingly fast. Keep it around the middle of the skimmer opening so your pump doesn’t begin pulling in air.

🧪 Chlorine and water chemistry
Sunlight and heavy swimming can use up chlorine faster than normal. Test your water regularly and watch for cloudy water, strong odors, eye irritation, or algae beginning to form.

🔄 Water circulation
Your pool may need additional circulation during extreme heat and periods of heavy use. Make sure the pump is running properly and the returns have good water flow.

🧺 Skimmer and pump baskets
Leaves, grass, insects, and other debris can restrict circulation. Empty the baskets frequently and never allow the pump to run dry.

📈 Filter pressure
A noticeable rise in filter pressure may mean the filter needs cleaning or backwashing. Low pressure or air bubbles could indicate a circulation problem, low water, or a possible leak.

🟢 Algae
Look closely at shaded walls, steps, corners, and areas with poor circulation. A slightly slippery surface or faint green tint can be an early warning.

⚙️ Equipment
Listen for unusual noises and look for dripping water, air bubbles, overheating equipment, or changes in normal pump performance. Catching a small problem early can help prevent a much more expensive repair.

And remember—the deck, coping, and metal surfaces can become dangerously hot. Check surfaces before children or pets walk on them, and keep everyone hydrated during pool time.
