⚠️ That "Florida Holly" in your yard might not be holly at all.
The Brazilian Peppertree (Schinus terebinthifolia) is one of the most aggressive invasive species in Central Florida — and it's often passed off under the friendly nickname "Florida Holly." Here's what a lot of homeowners don't realize:
🌿 It's in the same plant family as poison ivy — the sap can cause serious skin reactions.
🐕 Its berries are toxic to dogs, cats, and livestock.
🔥 Burning the wood releases a harsh, irritating smoke — never burn it.
⚖️ In Florida it's a Class I prohibited species — illegal to plant, sell, or move.
