If a tree just came through your roof, here's the first hour.

Get everybody out of that room and keep them out. A ceiling holding water is heavier than it looks and it doesn't come down slowly. If you can safely kill the power to that part of the house at the breaker, do it. Then move what matters - photos, papers, anything you can't replace - out from under the wet.

Now get your phone out and take pictures. A lot of them. Wide shots of the room, the ceiling, the outside of the house, the tree itself. Your insurance company is going to want them, and you can't go back and take them later.

Do not climb up there. Not in the dark, not in the rain, not to throw a tarp over it. That part is ours.

Then call us. We'll get it tarped and dried in so it stops getting worse, and we take the claim from there - plus the inside work after. Ceilings, insulation, drywall, paint. One crew, one point of contact.

People ask what "Where peace of mind is golden" actually means.

It means the roof isn't the hard part.

The hard part is the week after the storm. There's a tarp on the house, an adjuster who needs something, contractors who need something else, and you still have a job and kids and a life to run. Everybody's asking you a question and nobody's giving you an answer.

That's the part we take. The claim, the paperwork, the scheduling, the roof, the ceiling underneath it, the paint at the end. One team, and one number to call when you want to know where things stand.

We've had people come to us in the middle of a mess somebody else left behind. Claim stalled, work half finished, no idea what to do next. We got it re-approved and we finished it, and that family got their house back.

That's the job we're actually proud of. Not the shingles.

Most people call us about a June storm in August.

Your roof looks fine from the driveway. That's the problem.

You're standing in the yard looking up at an angle, seeing the one slope the ground lets you see. Hail doesn't land on the part you can see. Wind doesn't lift the shingles you're looking at.

Here's what our inspectors actually find up there, and what each one means.

Hail hits — every chalk circle is a strike. The mat under the shingle is cracked. It doesn't leak today; it leaks later.

Granule loss — that coarse grit collecting in your gutter is the shingle's armour. Without it, the sun cooks what's underneath.

Curled shingles — the mat dried out and the edges shrank. Wind gets under a shingle that won't lie flat.

Shingles out of course — wind moved them and the seal underneath broke.

Every mark you see in this video is chalk our inspector put there, on a real roof. We photograph all of it and hand you the file. You keep those photos whether you hire us or not, and if your roof is in good shape we'll tell you that too.
