TXAPA is proud to recognize J.H. Strain & Sons and the Strain family as a TXAPA Legacy Family, honoring generations of leadership, service, integrity, and contributions to the Texas asphalt pavement industry.

What began with James H. Strain and his family during the Great Depression grew into J.H. Strain & Sons, a company built on hard work, quality, integrity, and a commitment to serving others.

From James and his brother Hunter’s early construction work to James and Victoria’s sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the Strain family has continued to carry those values forward for more than six decades. Their contributions extend beyond the work itself, with generations of Strains serving TXAPA and helping advance the asphalt pavement industry.

Today, Kent and Ross Strain continue that legacy alongside the dedicated employees who have helped make J.H. Strain & Sons what it is today.

Congratulations to the Strain family on this well-deserved recognition.
