Hello everyone. Thank you for stopping by! A little about myself and how it started. I have always enjoyed helping others in any way way I can. I grew up tinkering with projects for my family including everything from taking care of their yard to decorating for the Holidays. I missed some weekends with friends but to me it was well worth it. My greatest satisfaction was that I could be there for family and eliminate the chances of them being taken advantage of by expensive shabby work. Todays times are not the same as they were even before I was born, but I like to believe there are still people out there like myself that hold the values of good honest work.
As I grew up and entered the work force I stayed true to still being there for family which ironically directed me towards the construction trades. I worked as a steal erector for large metal buildings, carpet installed for Empire, and a drywaller before my long term career as a journeyman carpenter and project manager for a general contractor. I learnt so much from four years of schooling and many tradesmen. I worked to remodel old building and build new ones from the ground up including DPW's, hospitals, police stations and more. After ten years an injury put the brakes on my construction career. I quickly learned working for others with dedication has little appreciation.
Being limited to what I enjoyed doing for so long I needed to change gears for a new way to make a living. Supporting a family of 4 and being directly involved in the community including my kids schools as their PTA president, time was a crunch. I decided to go to college for engineering, a TRUE passion of mine. While in school I designed and created my ideas to make them real. In late 2019 I started my own business Down Back Grit LLC. I had multiple patents applied as well as trademarks. it was quite a juggling act while surviving off of savings. As with many Covid-19 put a pause to my plans moving forward including school unfortunately. A decision was made to put my goal to create useful novel items designed to simplify life on hold.
My family and I moved to the beautiful state of Maine and I began a new career in security. I quickly moved up the ladder and became supervisor and trainer for all shifts. I worked with people of all ages with behavioral struggles and limited mobility. It was a great job, many times I would be called in to work with certain patients that would only respond to me. Words cant express the appreciation and joy I would get by delivering a listening nonbiased ear to some who are just misunderstood. Although I enjoyed helping others with great understanding and compassion. Lack of integrity and pay in the field increased my stress in the system, as well as financially for my family.
I decided to venture on my own and open a small Handyman business "Simply Solved" to help with what I knew most solving problems and construction. I do still create and design things whether it be a request from a customer, friend, or family. Most importantly I offer minor home repairs from replacing windows, doors, drywall, light fixtures and everything in between. There are some projects that go beyond my ability as a one man company, for those i have a small network of likeminded quality contractors. I offer two service rates, one being overall labor and the other as a consultant pointing you in the right direction for half the price of hiring the wrong trade or in some cases putting the carriage before the horse. From any project small or large I would be happy to assist you or a family member. Send me an email or DM. I service anywhere within a 20 mile radius of Brunswick Me.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to helping you out!
