Georgia's Fuel Mitigation Program (FMit) Funding Update: The program reimburses landowners 80% of their actual expenses, up to a limit of $1,000 an acre, for mitigating forest fuels following in September of 2024. This application period is only for NEW acreage. Acreage already enrolled in EFRP or FMit is NOT eligible during this period.
Funding will be awarded on a FIRST-COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS until the remaining funding is obligated.
The application period will open on December 15, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. and close at midnight on January 9, 2026. The deadline for new or existing FMit applicants to complete fuel mitigation treatments is June 30, 2026.
