Firestone, watch what’s coming.

These are the before photos of a major ColoradoScape transformation we have coming up this fall—and this project goes well beyond the front yard.

Out front, we’re removing the sod and creating a landscape with new plantings, accent boulders, and a modern concrete walkway.

In the backyard, planted berms and boulders will bring shape and character to the landscape, while new patios, a firepit, and artificial turf create space to gather, relax, and enjoy it.

Less lawn. More Colorado. 🌿

Another Westminster ColoradoScape completed by FRSR! Swipe through the before and after photos to see this front yard’s transformation.

We replaced the struggling lawn with native shrubs and perennials, accent boulders, and a river rock border—giving this home a fresh look while saving the homeowner an estimated 12,000–15,000 gallons of water a year.

And this is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see it next year as the plants fill in and the flowers put on a show!

The house is new. Now the backyard feels like home. 🌿

Another new backyard completed by FRSR Landscape & Outdoor Living in Barefoot Lakes in Firestone!

Fresh sod gives this yard a wide-open green center, while trees, shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses bring the edges to life. Rock borders and mulched planting beds keep everything neatly defined, with room for the plants to fill in.

A new concrete patio and steps connect the covered porch to the yard, adding space to pull up a chair and enjoy it. Large concrete steppers carry the design down the side of the house, giving that narrow space a purpose, too.

It all comes together in a backyard that fits the home and gives these homeowners room to settle in and make it theirs.

A little more color before fall settles in. 💛

Dwarf Blue Rabbitbrush brings bright yellow flowers to a Front Range yard in late summer and fall. Its blue-gray foliage looks good even before the blooms arrive, and the flowers give pollinators a late-season food source.

This compact shrub grows about 2–3 feet tall and wide. It likes full sun and needs very little water once established, making it a useful choice for a ColoradoScape planting bed.

Another Erie backyard finished—and this one is going to save the homeowner some serious time and water.

We replaced the existing rock and removed the real grass, then installed FieldTurf ZL06 to create a clean, usable lawn that stays green without mowing, fertilizing or constant watering.

By replacing the natural grass, this homeowner should save more than 20,000 gallons of water every year while eliminating nearly all the maintenance that came with the old lawn.

A great-looking yard, far less maintenance and real water savings.

🌿 PLANT SPOTLIGHT: AROMATIC ASTER 🌿

September is when you find out whether a landscape was truly designed for full-season color.

While many summer perennials are beginning to fade, Aromatic Aster is just getting started. Its masses of purple-blue flowers can completely brighten up a planting bed while providing an important late-season food source for bees and butterflies.

It loves Colorado sunshine, handles dry conditions once established and looks incredible planted in groups alongside ornamental grasses, boulders and other ColoradoScape plants.

WHY WAIT UNTIL NEXT SPRING?

This Thornton front yard was completely rebuilt from the ground up. We removed most of the traditional grass and replaced it with a professionally designed ColoradoScape featuring bermed planting beds, natural boulders, decorative rock, mulch and 78 carefully selected plants. We also kept a smaller lawn area to provide some green space without all the water and maintenance of the original yard.

The result is a landscape with elevation, texture and interest now—and it will only become more beautiful as the plants mature and fill in with color throughout the spring, summer and fall.

This new yard should save the homeowner approximately 1,000–1,500 gallons of water every week during the seven-month watering season. That’s more than 30,000 gallons of water that could be saved each year.

It also means:

• A much smaller area to mow
• Less fertilizing and fewer lawn treatments
• Lower ongoing water use
• Just a few seasonal cleanup days each year

Fall is one of the best times to make this transformation. Cooler temperatures put less stress on new plants while allowing their roots to begin getting established.
