The seven-inch-thick top is a solid cross-section of a remarkable Michigan hard maple that spent more than 10 years air drying before we transformed it into this one-of-a-kind coffee table.
Natural checks were preserved and stabilized with black epoxy, reinforced from below, and the entire piece was hand-finished with Osmo Hardwax Oil to highlight the incredible character of the wood. The simple black Douglas fir cross base lets the maple remain the focal point.
Every growth ring tells part of the tree's story.
Foundation:
• 7" thick Michigan Hard Maple, approx. 36"x44", 14.5" tall
• One of a kind
• Organic Collection No. 2
• Available now – $1,500
I'm excited to begin this new chapter of Bold Woodworks. If you know an interior designer, someone furnishing a new home, or anyone who appreciates one-of-a-kind handcrafted furniture, I'd truly appreciate it if you would share this post or tag them below.

Just going to hide some electronics in this hallway and a furnace in the bathroom. Sure is fun figuring out hiding spaces. The hardware needed is the tricky part.

Horse stable to man cave! The floor sloped about 4-5' from end to end before fill dirt was brought in and new concrete poured. When we arrived there were holes in the ceiling for dropping hay down into the stalls from the upstairs. The decaying copper effect on the bathroom was done by Anthony Rastelli of Denver Plaster.

Not your typical horse barn and riding arena! We installed just about 1200 pieces of wainscot. The wood is all beetle kill pine. The brand over the door was made of Alaskan Yellow Cedar glulam and textured to look like stone by Anthony Rastelli of Denver Plaster. The tongue and groove mountain scenes at the end of the riding arena we sculpted after the mountain range outside the barn.

A fun fireplace surround I worked on with my then 8th grade daughter (Macey). Mace did the caulking and painting. Macey is now 22. Not sure where the time went. The sloped ceiling made getting the posts set a little more challenging.

Fun with glass! I love working on stained glass. Nice change of pace. A lot less sawdust to contend with.....just a little sand from the glass grinder.

Just filling another alcove next to a fireplace. The space is 4.5' x 10' tall. The mantel was added to tie the two pieces together. This is stained cherry. The challenge was getting the upper section to fit between the walls. We used a technique called scribing to have the wood follow the uneven drywall. The client did a great job helping with the design and decorating the unit.

Angles, angles and more angles. I think there were 4 -90 degree cuts on the this faux beam dining room project.
