110 Years of Artistry at the Utah State Capitol 🏛️✨

On October 9, 1916, the Utah State Capitol opened its doors. Today, it remains one of the state’s defining landmarks and a remarkable showcase of decorative arts.

EverGreene Architectural Arts restored historic decorative finishes throughout the entire Capitol and recreated over 90% of the monumental skydome mural. Nearly 20 years later, the restoration endures—a testament to the craftsmanship and care that help historic places last for generations.

Before Movies Had Color, Movie Palaces Did. 🎬

When audiences entered the great of the , the experience began long before the film appeared on screen.

While silent, black-and-white movies dominated the era, the theaters surrounding them exploded with color, architecture, music, and spectacle.

Ornamental plaster. Murals. Gilding. Richly painted finishes. Grand staircases and exotic architectural details. Some theaters went even further, transporting audiences beneath glowing night skies filled with twinkling stars and drifting clouds.

Nearly 20 years after our original restoration of this masterful atmospheric theatre, EverGreene Architectural Arts, was proud to return and help expand the Tennessee Theatre into the adjacent Mechanics’ Bank and Trust Building—preserving its historic character while making way for its next chapter.

John Eberson’s Clouds Will Soon Be Moving Again ☁️✨

When the Tampa Theatre opened in 1926, architect went beyond creating the illusion of an outdoor Mediterranean courtyard.

A deep-blue ceiling glowed with twinkling stars while a specialized projection machine sent clouds slowly moving overhead—one of the effects that brought Eberson’s revolutionary concept to life.

The original 1926 mechanism eventually wore out, but the Tampa Theatre retained a later cloud machine and soon, clouds will once again drift across the night sky.
