Had a small personal job today. Just a basement refresh before they get their epoxy floors done.

It was already gray, but they wanted to lighten it up, so a couple gallons of paint and about three hours later, it feels like a completely different space.

I don’t get behind the brush and roller as much as I used to, but every once in a while it feels good to get back to it. I really do love creating and seeing the difference a few hours of work can make.

Sometimes it’s nice to remember why I started Summers Painting in the first place.

’Tis the season for rain delays!

Our 2026 exterior painting season is officially booked up. With another rain delay today, we were fortunate enough to have a nice one day interior project ready to keep the crew moving.

Today we knocked out the common areas, living room, dining room, kitchen, foyer, hallway, stairwell and ceilings. Not a bad way to spend a rainy Friday!

With the recent weather delays, our exterior schedule is currently pushed into the second week of October. At this point, I don’t feel comfortable adding any more exterior projects for 2026 and risking overbooking the season.

If you’re thinking about having exterior painting done, now is a great time to start getting on our 2027 schedule. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who kept us this busy all season!

Another beautiful historic home in the books!

Another piece of Evansville history refreshed and protected. This marks our 13th historic home of the year, and we still have a few more to go!

One thing I really loved about this project is that the homeowner chose to keep everything in the original colors. Sometimes the best way to bring an old home back to life isn’t to change it, but to preserve the character and nostalgia that made it special in the first place.

We’re proud to keep putting the work into these old homes and helping preserve a little piece of Evansville history with every one we finish.

This was pretty cool to get in the mail today!

A package from Sherwin-Williams with shirts for the crew and a handwritten note thanking Summers Painting for trusting their products and for our continued business and partnership.

My Sherwin Williams rep told me she has never seen them do something like this before, so that made it even more special.

We use their products every single day and have built a lot of beautiful projects with them over the years. It feels good to have that hard work and loyalty recognized.

Thank you Sherwin-Williams Paint Pros! We appreciate the relationship just as much.

Just over three years ago, when I first opened Summers Painting, the owner of this house on Railroad St asked me to paint the entire thing.

I turned it down.

I was a one man show. I didn’t even know how to use a paint sprayer yet. I was painting houses with a brush and roller, and I knew this one was bigger than anything I was ready for.

Last year we started taking on historic homes and completed around five. This year we’ve already done 13.

And this year, we finally came back and completed this one.

People sometimes wonder why properly painting a historic home can cost $20,000, $25,000 or even $40,000. These houses take skilled painters, lifts, washing, scraping, sanding, caulking, priming, quality paint, equipment and days of detailed labor. Add insurance, taxes and rising material costs, and doing this work correctly is not cheap.

A larger company could easily be $35,000 to $40,000 on a house like this. We’re typically around $20,000 to $27,000, and I’m confident the quality, preparation and overall experience we provide is worth every dollar.

We keep our job sites clean, communicate throughout the project and treat these homes like the pieces of history they are. When comparing estimates, don’t just compare the final number. Compare what you’re actually getting.

Three years ago I wasn’t ready for this house.

Today I have a crew I’d put on any historic home in Southern Wisconsin.

I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and even more proud that so much of that growth happened right here in Evansville.

Next year we’re taking it another level with professional drone footage, a full historic home portfolio and a proper brochure showcasing our work.

We’re building something special here.

Not a bad way to start the week!

A big thank you to another patient client, Linda, while we battled the rain. We physically got it done, and another beautiful deck is finished on Main St. in Evansville!

Another project in the books! Give us a call for your next painting project.

When Doug isn’t out there leading the Summers Painting crew and making houses look good, this is how he likes to spend his days off. Night fishing for catfish in the Wisconsin Dells! Last night he landed these two BIG boys, a 35 pounder and a 29 pounder, and each one gave him about a 15 minute fight before he got them in. Safe to say our lead painter knows how to put in work on and off the clock. 😂🎣

YES! HELL YEAH! WE DID THAT.

My team and I just officially wrapped up the last job still hanging over us from last year, and I can’t even explain how good this feels.

Almost 18 months ago, Evansville got hit by that horrible hailstorm that destroyed homes, cars, roofs, siding, and everything in between. Insurance was nobody’s friend through that process. Now, almost a year and a half later, we just finished painting the Scarmon family’s home and officially closed that chapter.

And man, did we have to fight for this one.

We battled one of the wettest years I can remember. We battled stretches of extreme heat. We battled smoke coming down from the Minnesota and Canadian wildfires. We battled scheduling delays, weather delays, and just about everything else Mother Nature could throw at a painting company.

But we finished.

I say this all the time, but I mean it: I truly have the best paint crew I’ve ever met. These guys aren’t just painters. They’re artists who genuinely care about the work they leave behind. More importantly, they’ve become my brothers. They make my life easier every single day, and they know I’m out here doing everything I can to make sure we’re not just creating jobs. We’re building careers and something that lasts.

I’m extremely grateful Summers Painting is still standing and growing. In this business, one wrong move can change everything. We made it through one hell of a stretch, and now we’re finally over that hump.

Everything currently on the books from here forward is scheduled for our new team and our next chapter.

If you want to experience what our crew can do, call, text, email, or send us a message. Demand is extremely high right now, so we are currently screening calls and may not answer the phone immediately. Please leave your name, project details, location, and the best way to reach you. If your project is a good fit for our crew, we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

To my crew: we did it.

Now onto the next one.
