A new chapter is underway for a historic South Boston property!

We recently joined South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, ICON Architecture, the Mayor’s Office of Housing, Age Strong, and City of Boston elected officials to celebrate the groundbreaking of McDevitt Senior Homes. The project will transform the former St. Augustine’s Convent into 35 income-restricted apartments for seniors, including 16 apartments for households earning at or below 30% of AMI. The ceremony featured remarks from Donna Brown, executive director of South Boston NDC, who highlighted the importance of preserving the property’s history while responding to today’s housing needs. We’re proud to be part of a project that preserves a piece of Southie lore while creating safe & affordable homes where seniors can age in place.

Renovations are complete at Interfaith Apartments in Boston’s South End!

We recently wrapped up improvements to the two historic affordable housing buildings, totaling more than 60,000 SF and 59 affordable housing units. Working in occupied buildings, our team carried out façade restoration, masonry repairs, exterior wall insulation, interior painting, slate roof repairs, and the replacement of nearly 100 windows, along with specialized restoration work to retain the buildings’ historic character and improve energy efficiency.

We’re proud to have collaborated with Haley House, Maloney Properties, and Joy Squared Design to upgrade these important affordable housing properties.

After seven years at the Worcester Art Museum, our work is starting to wrap up. to our work at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center (formerly Great Brook Valley Health Center) in Worcester!

In 1997, Kaplan provided preconstruction and construction management services for this 36,000 SF ambulatory care facility, delivering an award-winning project in a densely populated neighborhood while keeping the health center and surrounding community top of mind throughout construction. We were able to maintain harmony with local unions and open shop trades throughout the federally funded project, employing minority-owned businesses whenever possible, including EIFS, landscaping, security systems, and sitework.

The project earned an ABC Merit Award, the American Hospital Association's VISTA Award, and an AIA Honor Award. The success of the project led to a longstanding partnership with the health center, which continued to select Kaplan for additional work, including a 10,000 SF addition.

We're proud to look back on a project that helped expand access to quality healthcare in the Worcester area.

Structural steel er****on has begun at the new Chabad at Chestnut Hill, an exciting milestone as the building begins to rise above grade!

After months of excavation, foundations, and below-grade work, the project's vision is becoming visible. Over the coming weeks, the steel frame will take shape, creating the structure that will house spaces for worship, education, and community gatherings.

After completing extensive site preparation, including drilling and blasting through solid ledge and excavating for the below-grade Mikvah, our team is excited to see this project continue to take shape.

As the proud builder of their new center, it was especially meaningful to join the community for an evening honoring its past impact and dreams for the future. At Kaplan, our self-perform team routinely steps in to execute specialty and side scope work alongside major project responsibilities. It’s a reflection of flexibility, quality control, and added value for our clients. At the Stein Campus at Schechter Boston, our team self-performed the removal and replacement of classroom cubbies on the 2nd floor during a short holiday shutdown window. The new wooden cubbies were prefabricated in advance, allowing us to move quickly during Passover break to remove the existing metal lockers and install the new millwork. This approach kept the project on schedule and saved our client six figures in construction costs.
