🦟 MosquitoNix Wisconsin Tip of the Week
Late-summer mosquitoes are still very active across Wisconsin. Warm temperatures can keep mosquito populations going well into September, especially around dawn and dusk.
Here are a few simple ways to protect your family and enjoy more time outside:
💧 Dump the water. Check flowerpots, buckets, toys, tarps, gutters, birdbaths, and anything else collecting standing water. Mosquitoes do not need much water to breed.
🌅 Watch dawn and dusk. Mosquito activity is often highest during these cooler parts of the day. If you are outside, dress accordingly and use protection.
🧴 Use a proven repellent. EPA-registered repellents containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus can help reduce bites.
👕 Cover up when you can. Long sleeves and pants add another layer of protection, particularly when mosquitoes are active.
🏡 Walk your property once a week. A five-minute mosquito check can uncover breeding areas before they become a bigger problem.
And remember: Labor Day does not mean mosquito season is over. Wisconsin mosquitoes did not get that calendar invite. 🦟😏
