HERMITAGE — After years of fundraising, planning and construction, work is nearly complete on the Shenango Valley Animal Shelter’s new building.

Today was a big day in the progress of the new shelter building. Under the direction of Rien Construction the concrete floor was poured and finished. All of the plumbing and the radiant heat tubing was installed prior to the pour. The water well was dug and completed by Parker Brothers on Monday. We have the electric and gas already run to the building.
With the floor installed, Rien will begin the interior build-out.
We are still hoping for an early Fall opening. We are currently in need of approximately three-hundred thousand dollars to complete the building. We have not taken out any loans. Once we raise the funds the building will be completed.
We have been so fortunate for all of your generosity throughout this project. Thank you! We will be able to care for our resident dogs and cats in a much safer and comfortable environment.

At our 2023 Annual Meeting, we were honored to recognize individuals and businesses who are moving Mercer forward.

This year's Local Industry Award recipient is RIEN Construction. For over 50 years, Rien Construction has taken pride in building exceptional places for our community - from commercial and industrial buildings to churches, civic use buildings, schools and office buildings.
