Can a driver see past your corner before a bike reaches the street?
Wallingford’s fence guidance specifically protects visibility at intersections: on corner lots, fencing within 50 feet of the intersection may not exceed three feet. That rule makes sense the first time a child, cyclist, or car appears from behind a boundary faster than expected.
A low aluminum fence can still mark the yard clearly while preserving sightlines through the corner. The useful part is knowing that privacy is not the only job a fence performs. Sometimes the safer choice is deliberately seeing more.
Which corner of your property makes you lean forward because the view is worse than it should be?
