Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who drives around constantly studying the world outside the window.

Looking at every yard.
Every tree.
Every plant.
Noticing growth habits…
Seeing what’s in bloom…

Paying attention to different styles of landscaping.

I find myself feeling bad for homeowners whose landscapes are struggling. Plants put in the wrong place. Trees that will eventually outgrow their space. Drainage issues that haven’t caused problems yet… but will.

At the same time, I also notice the good things.

Beautiful plant pairings.
A retaining wall that fits the home perfectly.
A design that just works.

My brain is always going. Always observing. Always learning.

Because the best way to create landscapes that truly last is to see how things perform in the real world. Watching how plants grow over time, how materials age, and how good design holds up year after year.

Maybe I'm not the only one who does this… but I have a feeling most people just think I'm staring out the window. 🌿
