An older deck doesn’t always have to come completely down.
We run into this quite a bit. The deck boards are worn, the railings are dated and the whole deck looks like it’s ready to be replaced.
But once you get underneath and take a closer look, the framing may still be in good shape.
That’s where deck resurfacing can make sense.
At Lorenzi Deck Company, we’ll look at the framing, posts, footings, joists and the overall condition of the existing deck before recommending what to do. If everything underneath is still solid, we may be able to replace the decking, railings and stairs instead of tearing the entire deck down.
Of course, not every deck is a good candidate for resurfacing. If there are structural problems, code issues or you’re ready for a completely different layout, rebuilding may be the better option.
We’ve been working on decks throughout Pittsburgh’s South Hills for nearly 50 years. We’ve seen plenty of decks that needed to come down, and plenty that still had a lot of life left in them.
If you’ve been looking at your old deck wondering what to do with it, give us a call. We’d be happy to take a look.
