The argentine ant is one of those most widely distributed "tramp" ants, and their colonies can "bud" and span huge areas! These beady, black/brown ants are known for wide trails. Simple tips like wiping counters can keep them from making your kitchen the perfect foraging site. The more you know!

This fuzzy bug, friend or foe? Well, that depends on if your a wasp larvae or trying to pick it up. Today's creature feature is the solitary velvet ant, a type of wasp. Females are wingless and fuzzy, with a sting so painful they are also known as the cow killer. But as long as you leave her be, you can be friends.. just maybe from afar.

Ants are common this time of year, and here's 5 to look out for in your Brentwood home!

1. Argentine Ants: a common, populous ant with LARGE colonies and often multiple queens.
2. Odorous Ants: these guys stink - no, really, these ants emit a foul odor when crushed.
3. Carpenter Ants: these ants smooth out tunnels for their nests in wood and leave behind a destructive trail of sawdust in their wake!
4. Pavement Ants: These ants get their name from where they commonly build their nests - the pavement!
5. Theif Ants: these small, light ants use their miniature size to invade other ants nests - and your home too!
