🔍 Lawn Disease Watch: Part 3 of 3 – Our Summer Mini-Series Finale

We've covered Red Thread and Dollar Spot, and today we're wrapping up our Lawn Disease Watch series with a disease that has one of the most recognizable appearances in turf.

🌱 Today's Focus: Necrotic Ring Spot (The "Frog Eye" Disease)

Unlike many lawn diseases that affect grass blades, Necrotic Ring Spot attacks the roots, making it a more persistent issue that can lead to long-term thinning if left unchecked.

👀 What to Look For:
• Circular rings of yellowing, tan, or dead grass
• A healthy green patch remaining in the center, creating the classic "frog eye" appearance
• Rings typically measuring 6–18 inches across
• Sunken or thinning areas that may slowly expand over time

Because this disease affects the root system, lawns may struggle to recover without proper care. Early identification is key to helping maintain turf density and overall lawn health.

Thanks for following along with our Lawn Disease Watch mini-series! Remember, not every brown patch is caused by drought, insects, or pet damage—sometimes a closer look can reveal a turf disease at work.

🔍 Lawn Disease Watch: Part 2 of Our Summer Mini-Series

As warm temperatures, humidity, and overnight moisture continue, lawn diseases can begin to show up in even well-maintained lawns. Knowing what to look for early can help prevent larger issues later in the season.

🌱 Today's Focus: Dollar Spot

Dollar Spot is one of the most common lawn diseases during summer. It gets its name from the small, round, straw-colored spots it creates—often about the size of a silver dollar.

👀 What to Look For:
• Small tan or light brown spots scattered throughout the lawn
• Bleached or straw-colored grass blades
• Spots that can merge together into larger damaged areas if conditions persist
• Most noticeable during humid mornings when dew is present

Dollar Spot is most active when lawns are experiencing stress and fertility levels are low. While it can look alarming, early identification and proper lawn care practices can help minimize its impact.

Stay tuned for Part 3 of our Lawn Disease Watch series as we cover another common summer turf disease.

🔍 Lawn Disease Watch: Part 1 of Our Summer Mini-Series

Warm days, humid nights, and morning dew create the perfect environment for certain lawn diseases to develop. Over the next few posts, we'll highlight some of the most common turf diseases we see this time of year and what homeowners should watch for.

🌱 Today's Focus: Red Thread

Red Thread is often one of the first lawn diseases to appear during periods of prolonged moisture. Many homeowners mistake it for a fertilizer issue, but it's actually a fungus that can bind grass blades together with pink or reddish threads.

👀 What to Look For:
• Irregular patches of thinning grass
• Pink or red thread-like growth on grass blades
• Areas that appear faded or stressed compared to the rest of the lawn

The good news? While Red Thread can make a lawn look unsightly, it's rarely a long-term threat to healthy turf when properly managed.

Stay tuned for the next disease in our Lawn Disease Watch series!

🦟 Ever wonder why mosquitoes seem to come out all at once in the evening?

🌅 Mosquitoes are most active around dawn and dusk when temperatures are cooler, winds are calmer, and humidity is higher. That's why backyard cookouts, evening walks, and time around the fire pit often coincide with peak mosquito activity.

They spend much of the day resting in shaded areas like shrubs, landscape beds, tall vegetation, and wooded edges before becoming active later in the day.

🏡 Knowing where mosquitoes live is the first step in reducing them around your property and making outdoor time more enjoyable all season long.

Call our team today for added protection from these biting pests!

Seeing lighter green grassy weeds popping up along driveway edges, sidewalks, or thin lawn areas already? It may be young crabgrass beginning to emerge.

The good news? Preventative crabgrass control has already been applied to our customer lawns this season. While occasional breakthrough can happen — especially along pavement edges where heat builds up — early action and a thick, healthy lawn go a long way in keeping crabgrass under control.

If you’re noticing patches starting to spread, now is the best time to address them before summer heat kicks in. Give our team a call to discuss post-emergent treatment options. 📞 603-772-0810

Mosquito season is starting to wake up across New England, especially after recent rain and now warmer temperatures. Just a small amount of standing water can quickly turn into a breeding spot around your yard. 🦟

A few common places mosquitoes hide and breed:
✔ Clogged gutters
✔ Plant saucers and flower pots
✔ Kids’ toys and buckets
✔ Tarps or covers holding water
✔ Shady, damp areas around the yard

Dumping standing water helps, but it usually doesn’t eliminate the problem completely once mosquito populations build up.

Ask today about our professional mosquito treatments which target active resting areas to help you enjoy your yard with less swatting, fewer bites, and more time outside. 🏡

The season is just getting started — and it’s not too late to protect your yard.

All this rain + the warmer temps heading into the weekend = one thing… 🌧️☀️

Your lawn is about to take off. 🚀🌱

Cool-season lawns love this kind of weather, so don’t be surprised if you notice a big jump in growth and color over the next several days. It’s also a great reminder to keep up with mowing and avoid cutting more than 1/3 of the grass blade at a time to reduce stress on the turf.

Spring is officially in full swing. 💚

Two lawns. Two different stories. 👀🌱

A healthy lawn doesn’t happen by accident — consistent care, proper nutrition, and timing make all the difference. While some lawns are still struggling to wake up this spring, others are already thickening up, greening up, and standing out in the neighborhood.

If your lawn isn’t quite where you want it yet, the season is still young and there’s plenty of time to turn it around. ☀️💧🌿
