❤️ The Heart Behind Pooltex American — Paula Baker ❤️
When you talk about the history of Pooltex American, you can’t tell the story without talking about Paula Baker.
Paula wasn’t simply someone who ran a business. She poured her heart into it. She was dedicated, hardworking, loving, kind, strong, and never afraid to roll up her sleeves and get the job done.
There was one thing you could always count on with Paula: she would never ask someone to do something she wasn’t willing to do herself. No job was beneath her. If something needed to be cleaned, carried, fixed, organized, handled, or figured out, Paula was right there doing it alongside everyone else.
She cared deeply about Pooltex, the people who worked there, the customers who walked through the doors, and the community that supported the business.
And if you were ever a new employee, chances are you heard one of Paula’s most famous lines:
“I did not stand on the street corner and beg you to work here. You came looking for a job.”
That was Paula—straightforward, hardworking, and never afraid to tell you exactly how it was. But behind that toughness was a woman with an incredibly big heart who cared about her people and took tremendous pride in the business she helped build.
Her example taught us that leadership isn’t about asking others to work hard while you stand back and watch. It’s about being willing to stand beside them and work just as hard.
Pooltex American carries a lot of history within its walls, and so much of that history has Paula Baker’s fingerprints all over it.
Her hard work helped build it.
Her determination helped carry it.
Her kindness touched the people around it.
And her love became part of it.
We are incredibly proud of Paula Baker and forever grateful for everything she gave to Pooltex American. ❤️
Some people run a business.
Others leave a legacy. Paula did both.
