I had the pleasure of dining with my family at a friend’s house this evening. A very cool modernist house. They have a nice kitchen with a big dining table where we all sat. We served ourselves from the pots and pans of food on the stove, drank mulled c***r, had lovely conversation and after we cleared our places my kids played instruments.

I’ve written before about this wonderful arrangement but it was nice to re-experience it and be reminded how great an old fashioned eat in kitchen is. I would sacrifice the living room before this if I were designing a “right sized “ home.

I have a thought of a roundtable discussion and Q&A at one of the more local conferences about what happens if you get cancer or some other illness that affects your ability to work. Any thoughts?
