Today we celebrate World Mosquito Day! World Mosquito Day is always celebrated on the 20th of August to remember when it was discovered that female mosquitoes transmit malaria to humans!

Now we, at OCW, are working to get rid of mosquitoes since they are also a nuisance. Since the middle of April, we have been trapping on all 17 routes and have been spraying since we've gotten numbers. We've seen as few as 0 mosquitoes and as many as 1,500 mosquitoes in our traps. When we have reached threshold, we spray, weather permitting.

Today we get to celebrate World Mosquito Day in a very special way, because we spray our 100th spray route tonight! We're really excited to hit this landmark and are happy that it has landed on such a special day!
