Most older homes aren't one house. They're three or four floors stitched together. π
Look at the first two shots. The orange-toned strip wood in one room, dark laminate in the next, and a strip between them doing the work of an apology. Every doorway announced itself. π
So we took all of it out. π¨
Third and fourth photos are the reality of a whole-home floor job. Every room stripped to bare slab. Old adhesive ground off. The slab checked and flattened before a single new plank went down, because wood telegraphs everything underneath it. Skip that step and you'll feel it under your feet for the next twenty years. π
Then the new floor. Wide plank white oak running one direction through the entire open plan. Same material in every room. No transition strips breaking up the doorways. πͺ΅
You can see straight through the living area, past the entry, into the back hallway, and it's one continuous floor the whole way. That's what makes a house read as bigger than it is. β¨
Same square footage. Feels like a different home. π«‘
