It’s a longer read but if your interested in the finer details read below!⬇️⬇️
Preparation and attention to detail were very important for these 1x4 cladding walls. These two walls blend seamlessly together with a transition from Efis stucco to 1x4 cladding where there is a clean overlap on each transitioning corner. This 1x4 is a finish grade Douglass fir designed to have weaving corners where fir meets fir and a a seamless full piece transition over the garage door.
These are small but major details make this one of my favorite parts of this project! For anyone who likes the more intricate details the weather barrier is Benjamin Obdyke invisible wrap and strips of 1x4 cedar ripped in half and painted black. My door trim was furred out an extra half inch to give a 1/2 reviled as the finished product and the 1x4 cladding is a clear vertical grain fir with no finish on it. Since there is a 3/4 gap between the wall and cladding the fir will weather on its own and breath with the building which will prevent rotting.
