One last round of shots from our first stand of authentic Norwegian skigard fence. We’re pretty proud to bring this age-old Scandinavian tradition to Montana - even if it’s just serving as a snow fence! 😄
Why the Norwegian immigrants didn’t bring this piece of their heritage with them to the US, we’ll never know! 🤷‍♂️

Some fences are just put up. This kind gets carried on. Jack fence has lined drives in this country for well over a hundred years, built from native timber, taking the hills and the weather the way it always has. Skigard is the newer tradition, an old Norwegian rail style that turns a working fence into something worth slowing down for. Down the long drive, through the gate, and out across the open ground, it's the look that tells you a place belongs to the country it sits in. Heritage Fence.
