Turns out you donโ€™t need an architecture degree to help build a design tool. You just need to be five and love sandpaper.

We recently made a new batch of blocks for the Gratitude Village Colorado site workshop. Each piece is cut, sanded, and oiled by hand until it feels comfortable and familiar to hold.

This tactile kit helps people without a design background shape their own communities. Mahogany for housing, oak for commercial spaces, corduroy for gardens, leather for patios, and buttons for gathering nodes, every piece invites people to touch, move, and imagine.

Swipe through for the making process, our expert young sander, and our fuzziest supporters.

The photos from the AIA Awards Gala just came in, and in a flash, weโ€™re right back in San Diego!

We told you about the win a few weeks ago. Now we get to show you what it looked like: the AIA26 conference in full swing, the walk down the carpet and the time on the stage. We are humbled to have the project be recognized alongside some of the design firms we most admire.

Thank you to The American Institute of Architects for the great photos!

Weโ€™re thrilled to share that weโ€™ve received an AIA Housing Award in the Communityโ€‘Engaged Design category from The American Institute of Architects

The award recognizes Bozeman Cohousing โ€” the first netโ€‘zero energy cohousing community in the U.S. Designed with future residents through a fully participatory process, the 43โ€‘home community weaves affordability, sustainability, and belonging directly into its architecture.

Weโ€™re proud to be the first Montana-based firm to receive this honor, and only the second Montana project ever recognized in this category as well as the first ever recipient of the Community Engaged Design category.

This one means a lot to our team. Deep thanks to everyone who helped bring it to life. Check out the award details here: https://aia.secure-platform.com/a/gallery/rounds/789/details/72690

Thrilled to see this vision coming to life! ๐Ÿ™Œ Congratulations to Helping Hands Healing Hearts on receiving a $250,000 grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, a huge milestone toward their new purpose-built community service facility in Ponderay, Idaho. The Daily Bee recently covered this exciting news, and we were thrilled to have our architectural rendering featured alongside the story! ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ It is an honor to work on the design for a project rooted in such purpose. A campus built on hope, healing, and dignity for North Idaho and we can't wait to see it built. ๐Ÿ—๏ธโœจ See the link below to read the full story!

This is exactly what this space was designed for! ๐ŸŒฟ
This week we had the joy of hosting right here at and it could not have gone better. The space was full of incredible people, great conversation, and exactly the kind of energy this community is built for.
There is something really special about watching a space you designed come alive with people who are passionate about sustainability, connection, and building a better Bozeman.
A huge thank you to for sponsoring the event and making the night possible, we could not have done it without you! And thank you to everyone who came out, mingled, and made the night what it was. Here is to more nights just like this one!

Finally back home and settled in but we had the best time at the Cohousing Summit: Seattle! ๐Ÿกโœจ
This gathering brought together community builders, architects, housing advocates, and curious newcomers all united by one idea: that we are better together.
We loved connecting with so many passionate people exploring cohousing, pocket neighborhoods, co-ops, and beyond, and of course, having our own booth in the mix made it even more special! The summit organized by was beautifully co-chaired by the incredible Grace Kim and Mike Mariano of , and the energy throughout the day was nothing short of inspiring!

Bozeman's sustainability community is coming to us this evening! ๐ŸŒฑ
We are so excited to be hosting this month's Green Drinks right here at Bozeman Cohousing! Green Drinks is a casual monthly get together that brings people together who care about sustainability, from NGOs and businesses to academics, locals, and everyone in between.
It is a great chance to catch up with familiar faces, make new connections, and swap ideas with people who are passionate about building a more sustainable future. No agenda, no formalities, just good conversation and good company.
And what better place to do it than a space literally designed around community and connection? We would love to see you there and show off this incredible project in person!
Bring a friend, bring a colleague, bring anyone who cares about sustainability in our community. Everyone is welcome! See you there!
A huge thank you to Visions Service Adventures for sponsoring this event and helping make it happen!

Through the Cohousing Summit with the National Cohousing Alliance, we had the incredible opportunity to tour some of the most inspiring cohousing communities in the Pacific Northwest! ๐Ÿก
Our journey took us across the region, starting with a deep dive into urban cohousing led by Grace Kim of Schemata Workshop, inc where we explored Capitol Hill Urban Cohousing, Jackson Place Cohousing, and Puget Ridge Cohousing. Next, we made our way to Vashon Island to visit a thriving cohousing community with over 30 years of history, a true testament to the staying power of intentional living. Over on Bainbridge Island, we toured Winslow Cohousing and a neighboring cottage community, exploring what cohousing looks like with a smaller footprint in a walkable, connected setting. Finally, to close out the summit, we joined our friend Bryan Bowen of Caddis Collaborative for a final community tour that brought us to Crow Woods, and Skagit Cohousing in Anacortes.
Each stop offered a unique lens on what community, design, and intentional living can look like, and left us more inspired than ever!
