Things are NOT always as they appear in the world of plants and soil. While many would see problem from this mushroom cap, it is actually beneficial to our environment. Gymnopilus palmicola is a saprobic fungus. It survives by actively decomposing matter, this being an old Sabal Palm stem we used at the nursery as a feature.
