El Niño is Spanish for… THE NIÑO!” Chris Farley’s 1997 SNL forecast is back in the news, and this time NOAA agrees: the 2026–27 El Niño could be the strongest on record since 1950.

For property managers, the outlook matters less than readiness. Milder or wetter, a single overnight storm can still close parking lots, entrances, and walkways across a commercial, medical, campus, or multi-family portfolio.

Winter does not erase established w**ds. It only makes them easier to overlook.

As temperatures fall, dandelions, clover, and other broadleaf w**ds may become less visible. That does not necessarily mean the problem is gone. Established w**ds can survive below the surface and return when growing conditions improve.
