This past weekend, we celebrated with Norfolk Botanical Garden as they opened their new Garden of Tomorrow.

Our CEO Chris Uhlig attended to show his support for the team behind this ambitious project. The Perry Conservatory alone spans 26,000 square feet across two stories, with tropical and arid houses protecting some of the world's threatened and endangered plant species.

We designed and built the greenhouse for the Brock Environmental Education Center, part of this same campus. The center hasn't opened to the public yet, but seeing the full scope of the project come together this weekend gave us a preview of what's ahead.

We'll share more on this project as it gets closer to opening.

2026 marks 15 years for Ceres Greenhouse Solutions. Here's the second half of the story.

As our project scope grew, so did our capabilities. We moved into commercial food production and research greenhouse systems, glass house architecture, and larger structures like gutter-connected greenhouses. This is also where our full-service model and turnkey delivery took shape: design, engineering, and construction management under one team, supported by proprietary technology like our SunSense™ controls. That evolution has allowed us to take on large-scale projects for clients across the world, from specialty crop producers to pharmaceutical R&D facilities.

One thing that hasn't changed: our commitment to the people we build for. We manage every part of a project, from initial concept through construction and beyond completion. Our clients' success is our success.

2026 marks 15 years for Ceres Greenhouse Solutions. We're celebrating with a two-part look back, starting with where we began.

We were founded in 2011 to design energy-efficient greenhouses grounded in passive solar principles. We started with custom residential greenhouses, including DIY kits and plans for homeowners and small growers. During this period, we also developed our GAHT® geothermal system, one of the first pieces of proprietary technology to come out of Ceres. From there, our project scope expanded to include barn greenhouse kits, along with larger cannabis and h**p facilities.

This period is where the core of how we work took shape: understanding a client's goals first, then designing around them.

We're in the middle of building a new greenhouse project, and it's a good example of how we approach every job at Ceres.

A lot of greenhouse companies mainly fabricate. We do more than that. Our team handles design, engineering, project management, systems integration, and coordination with subcontractors, all in-house.

For this project, we worked with a new manufacturer to source components that fit exactly what our client needed. We choose the right partners for each job instead of sticking to one fixed supply chain.

Take a look inside Lauritzen Gardens' production greenhouses in Omaha, Nebraska.

Ceres designed four connected greenhouses to replace the garden's old high tunnels: two with glass glazing along the walking paths, two with polycarbonate for the production space behind them. Together they grow the mums, poinsettias, and orchids that keep Lauritzen Gardens blooming all year.

Completed in 2024, these greenhouses were built to grow with the garden's needs.

Prairie Plains Resource Institute's new propagation greenhouse is here.

Located in Aurora, Nebraska, this 30'x44' HighYield™ Kit with an inline headhouse gives the Prairie Plains team the space to grow native seedling plugs for their prairie restoration work.

Prairie Plains restores native habitat across eastern and central Nebraska, sourcing seed from over 225 native plant species. Some species are hard to source from seed or don't establish well at restored sites, so the team grows them as plugs instead. That includes native violets, which regal fritillary caterpillars depend on as their only food source.

The greenhouse uses ETFE glazing for up to 94% light transmission, along with SunSense™ controls, a wetwall, and a GAHT® geothermal system for year-round growing. Automated watering and temperature control free up staff time for restoration, conservation, and education work.

Plugs will be growing in the space throughout the 2026 season, supporting Prairie Plains' restoration and educational programs across the region.

Ceres partnered with KWS Seeds to build North America's most advanced sugarbeet research greenhouse in Kimberly, Idaho. The facility gives researchers precise, repeatable control over temperature, humidity, and light across four separate zones, plus a dedicated chamber that simulates winter dormancy so scientists can control flowering on their own schedule instead of waiting on the growing season.

The result is a facility built to support two research programs at once: growing seedlings for sugarbeet trials and studying disease resistance to help protect future crops.
