If you support solar and encouraging more women in the trades, I hope you'll like and follow us. I will be offering programs that focus on women who want to learn more about solar installation. I am also currently developing simple ways for women installers to connect with one another. If you have feedback for me on what you think would be most helpful given your own perspective (either as someone
skilled already or someone who is interested to learn), please reach out. In Solar for Women’s ideal future, women will lead more solar companies, women will collaborate more on solar projects and businesses, women will be in positions to hire and train more women, and girls see other women who do this work at home or as a career, and want to pursue the skills as well. More education and recruitment will target girls and women for the solar industry and trades. This includes the development of pre-apprenticeship programs that focus on women, trades school programs in solar that will see rising numbers of women students, STEM programs for younger students that focus on solar, and a larger number of instructors and trainers who are women. I REALLY want to see female-led companies with all-female installation crews. I especially hope it includes seeing women of color leading and starting more companies, with the support of women (and everyone). More money and resources need to move towards more women, especially women of color, to achieve this vision. Women who desire to work in solar will find jobs in solar that pay them as well as men and that offer respectful communication on the job. They will feel more connected and supported as they learn and as they develop into experienced professionals. It will be easy to find a woman as a mentor. The part that Solar for Women wants to play in helping make it happen is through education, building connections among women, and empowering more women to learn and build their own skills and companies. If this aligns for you, let me know!
