The Marr Companies consist of four separate businesses that provide the New England construction industry with specialized products and services, contributing to the area's overall growth and development. The Marr Companies is privately owned by the fourth and fifth generations of the Marr family. Daniel Marr & Son Company, established in 1898, is involved in steel and pre-cast erection, rebar pla

cement, welding and shear stud installation. Marr Scaffolding Company, established in 1945, is engaged in the rental, sales and servicing of nationally marketed products and equipment. The company is structured into four divisions: scaffold, aerial platform, shoring and forming, and bleachers and special events. Marr Crane & Rigging, established in 1942, is engaged in the rental of cranes and hoists to construction companies, industrial customers and stevedoring accounts in the Greater Boston area. The company also provides rigging, trucking and warehousing services. This division also leases equipment to Daniel Marr & Son for all steel erection work performed by the company. The company employs fully-trained and experienced operators to operate the rented equipment. Isaac Blair & Co., Inc., was established in 1820 and purchased by Daniel Marr & Son in 1969. Along with heavy-duty shoring and rigging, Isaac Blair provides emergency services 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

One whale of a lift. 🐋

Marr Crane & Rigging recently completed the rigging and installation of Boston Children’s Hospital’s new mama and baby whale sculptures, helping place a meaningful new landmark at the hospital’s main entrance.

Our crew was proud to assist with the careful placement of these sculptures, which now greet patients, families, and staff each day. It’s not every lift that leaves such a lasting impression, and we’re grateful to have been part of this special project.

Monday, May 18, 2026, marked a major milestone for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester (BGCD) with the topping off of the Fieldhouse+ Youth Center at Columbia Point.

Daniel Marr & Son is proud to have performed the steel er****on for this state-of-the-art 75,000 sq. ft. facility, and we were honored to see the hard work and dedication of our Local 7 Ironworkers recognized throughout the ceremony.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate this milestone alongside the Richard family. Fieldhouse+ represents far more than steel and concrete — it carries forward Martin Richard’s legacy of kindness, inclusion, and community while creating new opportunities for Dorchester youth and families for generations to come.

CEO/Chairman Dan Marr addressed more than 200 attendees, reflecting on the long history of the Club founded by the Marr family as the Colonel Daniel Marr Boys & Girls Club, which opened in 1974. More than 50 years later, this next chapter helps carry that mission forward for future generations.

Thank you to Ironworkers Local 7, Lee Kennedy Co., the Martin Richard Foundation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester, and every project partner helping bring this vision to life.
