For those putting the finishes touches on your World Interiors News (WIN) Awards submissions, Senior Associate Lawrence Ko, one of this year’s judges, shared this advise:

“Often your work must stand on its own, but your submission offers an opportunity to articulate the ideas and concepts behind it. Put forth a cogent point of view. You may have numerous drawings and many ideas to convey, but a focused narrative paired with carefully selected visuals will have greater potency and impact.”

The deadline is tomorrow August 6. Best of luck to everyone entering!

Insight: With construction costs rising, the balance between experience and efficiency can't be an afterthought — designers must engage with budget realities from the very first conversation. Every dollar has to work harder, and cost strategy and design intent need to develop together, not in sequence.

To ensure its clients stay ahead of emerging trends in law firm workplace design, Elkus Manfredi produces a biannual Legal Workplace Snapshot© research report featuring proprietary analysis and insights.

Senior Associate and Director of Sustainability, Kristen Fritsch will join the Global Network for Zero's July webinar, "Beyond Carbon: Why Water and Waste Are Central to Net Zero Success."

As the built environment evolves, sustainability leaders are looking beyond operational carbon to embrace a more holistic approach to resilient, high-performance design.

With more than 20 years of experience advancing sustainable architecture, Kristen has helped integrate energy efficiency, resilient design, material transparency, and green building strategies into projects across a wide range of sectors. Her work reflects a simple truth: achieving net zero isn't just about reducing carbon emissions—it's about creating buildings that perform better, last longer, and deliver greater value for people and communities.

Join Kristen and an outstanding panel of industry leaders on Tuesday, July 28, at 12:00 p.m., as they discuss why the next generation of sustainability leadership must address water, waste, resilience, and whole-building performance alongside carbon.

We are thrilled to share that Watertown Exploratory Labs (WELL) has been named an Architizer A+ Popular Choice Winner in the Architecture + Renewal category!

We provided the planning and design for the adaptive reuse of the former Western Electric Company headquarters in Watertown, Massachusetts. Originally built in 1931 as an industrial manufacturing facility, the seven-story Art Deco landmark has been reimagined as a LEED Gold-certified, multi-tenant lab and office campus for life science innovation.

Located just outside the life sciences hub of Kendall Square, WELL brings startups and established companies together in a dynamic ecosystem designed to foster collaboration, spark new ideas, and accelerate discovery.

Thank you to everyone who voted and helped make this recognition possible!

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the topping off of the University of Virginia's Ivy Corridor Student Housing project—a significant milestone marking the halfway point of construction!

The final steel beam was placed atop one of the three residence halls, bringing this transformative project one step closer to completion. Once complete, the 330,000-square-foot development will provide 780 beds for upper-class students across two five- and six-story buildings. The project will also include three distinct dining venues in addition to residential common areas designed to enrich the student experience.

Construction is scheduled for completion in July 2027, with the residence halls expected to welcome students for the 2027–28 academic year.

We're proud to partner with the University of Virginia, Capstone Development Partners, and the joint venture team of Hoar Construction and Hourigan to help bring this exciting project to life.
