Two , 66 Galen Street and 40 Thorndike, have been recognized as winners in Green Architecture in the 2026 Green Good Design Awards by The Chicago Athenaeum International Museum.

66 Galen Street transforms an underutilized Charles River site in Watertown, MA into a LEED Gold-certified life science campus that advances Watertown’s innovation ecosystem while prioritizing sustainability and community connection. More than 55% of the site is dedicated to publicly accessible open space, including two new parks and riverfront gathering areas. A rooftop solar array, battery storage system, EV charging infrastructure, high-performance building systems, and water-saving strategies contribute to a 44% reduction in energy use, 27% reduction in water consumption, and a 13% reduction in embodied carbon.

40 Thorndike, located in Cambridge, MA demonstrates the power of adaptive reuse at scale. By preserving 92% of the existing structure, the project avoided approximately 9,500 metric tons of embodied carbon. High-performance façade systems, daylight harvesting, chilled beams, water-cooled heat pumps, and energy recovery systems contribute to a 62% reduction in energy use intensity, while 70% of construction and demolition waste was diverted from landfill. LEED Gold-certified and pursuing WELL Core v2 Gold certification, the project transforms a former courthouse and jail into a vibrant mixed-use destination focused on sustainability, wellness, and community.

We’re excited to share that Alcott, a residential tower in Boston’s West-End has been featured in World Interiors News (WIN).

Replacing an existing parking garage, Alcott has created new residential units with family, work-from-home, and health-oriented amenities. The strategically placed new apartment tower creates a one-acre public park for all and ground-floor retail to serve the entire neighborhood. With a diverse mix of unit types and 17 below-market-rate units, Alcott is LEED-NC Gold-certified.

Alcott has also earned multiple design awards, including recognition as a Silver Winner in the WIN Awards.

We’re proud to share that our 100th has achieved LEED certification!

Alexion Pharmaceuticals Stability & Outreach Lab’s LEED Platinum certification marks a meaningful milestone as our 100th LEED-certified project—reflecting our long-standing commitment to sustainable, high-performance design. This project focused on indoor environmental quality, efficiency and enhanced refrigerant management.

We’re also excited to celebrate that Massachusetts continues to lead the way, ranking #1 among the Top 10 states for LEED in 2025. Notably, Massachusetts has consistently ranked in the Top 10 for well over a decade and has held the #1 spot multiple times in recent years.

Sustainability isn’t a single achievement. It is a sustained effort, and we’re proud to be part of the momentum shaping a more resilient built environment.

A few weeks ago, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Founders House Detroit — a 313-unit residential community designed to support graduate students and faculty at the University of Michigan Center for Innovation. Located within The District Detroit development, the project will include a mix of studio to three-bedroom residences, an active ground-floor, and is targeting LEED Gold certification. Completion is scheduled for summer 2028.

We’re proud to serve as the design architect for this transformative project and honored to collaborate with Olympia Development of Michigan, Related Companies, Neumann/Smith Architecture, and Clark Construction Company to help bring this vision to life. Together, the project will help foster innovation, research, and community connectivity in the heart of Detroit.

How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) reshaping the way we think about design?

Our Director of Design Technology Jared de Jonge recently sat down with other architectural technology leaders at a Metropolis Magazine roundtable in NYC to find out.

The discussion focused on the growing role of AI in interior design and how it is beginning to reshape workflows across the industry.

Participants explored the balance between speed and design quality, noting that AI is increasingly embedded in practice but still in early stages of adoption. The conversation highlighted the challenges and opportunities, as well as the importance of critical thinking as tools become more automated.

The group ultimately shared a common view: AI is becoming a useful tool, but its value depends on how thoughtfully it is integrated into the design process.
