Construction is winding down for the year. The chicken coop is in place and home to six chickens, the root cellar built and buried underground. The windmill is almost complete, and the last load of firewood for the winter was just delivered. Time to enjoy the snow!

Keeping deer and rabbits out of the orchard is a full time, year-round job. They even eat the tops off potatoes. Neighbor suggested electrified fence. I finally have a use for our old solar panel prototypes.

Two-year-olds in the graywater greenhouse today. Growing season is short in the north. These plants came into the greenhouse from outdoor gardens in fall 2021. They are flourishing. Swiss chard is always producing yummy greens on the same stalks, gardenia thinks it's almost always time to bloom, and the slowest of all, the red bell peppers, are finally turning red.

It's the middle of April and the ticks are active, but it's still snowing. But the flowers are blooming in the cave greenhouse. It gets hot in there on sunny days, so I ordered a shade cloth to filter the light.

In grow in zone 4 here (far north) it's nice to have a greenhouse that's zone 8 inside (deep south). Our first rose this...
