If you’ve never grown in a greenhouse before, it’s easy to think “panels are panels.”
But once you’re in it, you realize really quickly: they’re not.
We offer all of our greenhouses with double-wall polycarbonate as a standard, so you’re set up for success during cold winters and those stretches of intense summer heat.
Double-wall panels are built with two layers and an insulating air gap in between: creating a thermal buffer that actually works with your environment instead of against it. Which gives you warmer nights, more stable temps, and diffused light that prevents scorching and promotes even growth.
It also means:
-Less reliance on heaters
-Lower energy costs over time
-Stronger panels that hold up to wind, weather, and impact
-Longer lifespan and UV protection that helps prevent yellowing and brittleness as it ages
Overall, it creates a much more forgiving, consistent growing environment. Especially in climates where conditions can swing fast.
Single-wall polycarbonate is popular because it’s cheaper upfront…
But what you save initially, you often pay for in:
-Heating costs due to very low insulation (R-value ~0.8–1)
-Major temperature swings (hot days, cold nights)
-Plant stress and loss from inconsistent conditions and scorching
-Extra work trying to manage temperature manually
-Shorter lifespan with higher risk of yellowing, scratching, and wear over time
It may be fine for temporary setups or mild climates…
But if you’re trying to grow seriously-especially in colder or more unpredictable regions, it’s usually the weak link.
