🚨 When sewage starts backing up into the bathtub, you know there’s a problem. 😳

This main sewer line was blocked, leaving the bathtub full of sludge. We removed the toilet, covered the bathroom with protective plastic, and cleaned the sewer line—pulling back tree roots in the process. 🌳

It was definitely a messy one, but proper protection made cleanup much easier once the line was flowing again.

🚿 A worn shower cartridge can cause more problems than you think.

On this job, we replaced a Moen 1225B tub and shower cartridge using the Moen cartridge puller to safely remove the old cartridge from the valve body.

A failing cartridge can lead to dripping, stiff handle operation, poor temperature control, or reduced flow. Having the right tool makes the repair much easier—especially when an old cartridge has been stuck in the valve for years.

🚽 Gurgling toilets are usually trying to tell you something.

On this service call in Downers Grove, the homeowner was experiencing toilets that were gurgling and beginning to back up. After performing a sewer camera inspection, we found tree roots starting to grow into the main sewer line.

Using our RIDGID K-1500 sectional sewer machine, we cleared the roots and restored proper flow to the sewer.

🛁 Silicone or plumber’s putty—which would you choose?

On this job, we installed a new bathtub pop-up drain assembly using 100% silicone to seal the drain fl**ge.

Over the years, we’ve used both plumber’s putty and silicone, and both can be the right choice depending on the application. These days, we often reach for 100% silicone because it stays flexible, creates an excellent watertight seal, resists mold and mildew, and performs well through repeated hot and cold temperature changes.

The key isn’t just the sealant—it’s taking the time to properly clean the surface, install the drain correctly, and always test for leaks before calling the job complete.
