Phillip Alexander Carpentry

Phillip Alexander Carpentry Phillip is originally from the South Coast of England.

He was first introduced into the art of carpentry through boat building with Rustler Yachts in Falmouth, Cornwall, during his time studying at Falmouth Marine School. He has continued his work in the industry for the past 13 years since, and is grateful that carpentry has given him the opportunity to practice his craft around the world. This includes remodeling homes in the city of Brighton, UK, d

oing general carpentry in Australia, relief work rebuilding homes in the Philippines, and much more. From 2015-18 he lived in Northern Vermont working alongside Katahdin Cedar Log Homes and Betts’ Construction building custom log homes. He currently resides in the North End of Boise, Idaho, building for Katahdin Log Homes and using his unique creative abilities to create custom handmade furniture, cabinetry, home remodels and more. Phillip is deeply dedicated to the quality of his work, and understands the importance of being involved in each aspect of building homes from start to finish. Phillip is truly passionate about the design process and working with each client in an extremely individual way. Whether it be from professional drawings, to an inspiration found on Pinterest, or an idea scribbled onto a napkin, his goal is to create the work that each client has in mind, and exceed the expectations of quality and creativity.

Is your staircase starting to show its age?

A staircase is one of the first things people notice when entering a home — especially in older and historic homes where the original craftsmanship deserves to be preserved.

At Phillip Alexander Carpentry, we work on both custom staircase builds and staircase restoration projects throughout Boise and the Treasure Valley. From repairing worn treads and restoring original wood details to rebuilding stair systems and updating railings, we focus on craftsmanship that respects the character of the home.

Whether the goal is restoration, refinishing, structural repair, or a completely custom staircase, we approach each project with attention to detail from structure through finish work.

Here are a few recent outdoor living and custom carpentry projects we’ve been working on around Boise and Eagle.

From custom pergolas and covered patios to detailed post-and-beam structures, the goal is always the same — build something that feels original to the home and is made to last.

A lot of these projects involved structural framing, custom beam work, finish carpentry, and tying new construction seamlessly into existing homes.

Adding an elevator to an existing home isn’t just structural—it’s about making it belong.

This Crescent Rim project involved framing a 3-level elevator shaft through complex rooflines, carefully tying everything into the existing structure so it feels original to the home.

This 6,000 sq. ft. custom cabin, built from Northern White Cedar, was designed to bring the whole family together. Expansive living areas and soaring ceilings create an open, welcoming environment, while a striking glass gable serves as the signature feature—framing breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains and filling the space with natural light. Behind the beauty is a feat of engineering, with intricate framing and complex construction brought together with expert craftsmanship. Every detail, from structural integrity to refined finishes, reflects a high-end custom build that offers timeless beauty, modern comfort, and the perfect setting for family living in every season.
