Good mernin and happy Monday to my early risers, night owls, insomniacs, neurospicy besties, and other carbon life forms.
We'll continue with the hot heat this week. Staying mostly in the 90s on the valley floors but a couple of places along the Snake River could crack triple digits at times.
So, we'll all just be residents of Swamp Crotch National Park this week. The Southern Wetlands. The Friction District. Whatever. It's fine.
Anyhoodles, we are going to see clouds increase from the south as a surge of the monsoon moves in from the south.
Remember, monsoon doesn't automatically translate to heavy rain and toad stranglers okay?
What it will do is increase clouds, and bring us scattered showers and a few thunderstorms later in the day. Better chances arrive overnight tonight and into the day on Tuesday and then we'll keep scattered showers and thunderstorms in my forecast through Tuesday and Wednesday.
Still evaluating for Thursday and beyond. I suspect it'll stay active.
The risk with these showers and storms will be gusty winds and lightning. I do think some heavy downpours are possible with the stronger storms. It's a catch 22.
The gusty winds & lightning will be tough on existing fires and could create new ones. If heavy rain does occur at times over the higher terrain, it can be too much of a good thing over existing burn scar. The soil can't soak up the water, and it has to go somewhere. This creates a flash flooding concern. Not a guarantee, but can't be ruled out.
So I have a lot to watch over the next couple of days. Be mindful of the risks. Have a plan. No need to panic if you're prepared, and keep checking in for updates on the socials with me as well as local officials if you live near an active fire.
