It looks like the weather people are pretty certain that we are about to be hit!
Please take precautions tomorrow while the weather is nice. Here are a few things that may get you through unscathed but if we loose power and you have any exposed pipe, you will loose it.
Pump houses- heat source inside-light or space heater
Pool pumps- leave running
Conventional foundation homes- wrap outside of crawl space and leave hot and cold dripping especially when temps start getting below 25.
Pipes running through attic- leave water dripping almost a stream
On demand water heaters- the brass isolation valves will freeze and burst if no heat source is applied

Un attended camps- kill the water and drain to the best of your ability, open cabinets that are under sinks and leave heater on. Open every hot and cold faucets and flush toilets

I hope they missed the forecast and nothing is going to happen but if it does, give me a call and I will get to you ASAP. Most of us plumbers stay in touch during these times and will try to get someone to you even if it’s another company if we can’t get to it ourselves.

Mice like Pex!
If you are returning to your camp this fall and it has been vacant since April, expect some rodent damage if you have Pex pipe unless you have been controlling them.

ATTENTION! If you are in the path of the storm, your septic system may become overwhelmed by tomorrow morning, no need to panic. It will return to normal by Thursday eve or Friday morning. If you have any trees or limbs to fall and break water or drain lines, give me a call and I will get to you ASAP. Hunker down my friends!

ATTENTION, The dreaded ‘drain or insulate your pipes post’!

Extremely cold weather is forecast for next week, take action now. If you have pvc or cpvc water pipes and home is on a conventional foundation (off the ground) , leave water dripping, hot and cold. Insulate exposed pipe. Wrap outside of home to keep wind out if possible. Run your dryer a few times throughout the night if it’s vented to under the house. Leave cabinet doors below sinks open so heat from home will heat pipes.

For vacant homes: the same applies but DON’T leave water dripping inside, if your sewer backs up, you will be in trouble. Turn the water off and drain hot and cold lines if possible.

Pump houses: put a heat source in them or kill the power and drain the lines.

Pool pumps: keep circulating or kill the power and drain the pump housing and exposed pipes

Peter denied Him 3x but would deliver a message to the Jews a short 7 weeks later on the day of Pentecost telling them the had crucified the Messiah. At the end of his life he chose to be crucified upside down rather than deny Jesus again. What changed Peters mind and made him so bold? The same thing that changed Jesus’ brother James. They saw him die and then saw him risen. All the disciples had to do was deny and they wouldn’t have been persecuted here on earth. Will you deny or follow?

The Chinese Tallow tree will wreak havoc on drain lines. If your drains are getting slow and you have any ‘popcorn’ trees , river birch or willow trees near your septic system , this could be your issue. Give us a call if you need it inspected.
